That means Easter Egg: Easter egg
The English expression “Easter Egg” literally means “Easter egg”. In the gaming, film and IT sectors, this is used to describe hidden surprises. These entertaining quirks tend to refer to something outside of the medium.
Origin of “Easter Egg”
Developer Warren Robinet is credited with inventing the Easter Eggs. In the Atari game “Adventure” he immortalized himself with his name in 1987. The reason for this was the company’s requirement that programmers should not be mentioned by name. Thus began the tradition of giving credit to the unseen developers for their behind-the-scenes work. Easter eggs are now mostly intended as a nod to the fans.

But such hidden messages have been recorded in art history for some time. Signatures of the artist, famous personalities as minor characters or historical references are well-known phenomena, at least since the Renaissance.
Messages or extras were also hidden in many computer programs. However, for fear of being mistaken for malware, Easter eggs in software are now rather banned.
On the hunt for Easter Eggs
Easter Eggs are, in the broadest sense, a tribute to the viewer, player or user. A way to joke about older versions, make surprises in the form of additional content or otherwise send a small greeting.
In the gaming area, for example, these are secret levels or hidden objects and people who refer to something that only fans understand, i.e. a kind of inside joke. The Konami Code is very popular here. Likewise, in some computer programs there are “Secret Credits”, i.e. a secret credits with the names of the contributors, as a frequent Easter Egg.
In feature films, too, Easter Eggs can be allusions to, in this case, other films. A cameo appearance, for example, or the copying of iconic elements.
Hidden feature or easter egg?
Whether a game is a hidden function or an Easter Egg can be determined by the requirements. An Easter egg is always inserted intentionally, has no official use for the user and is generally to be understood as a wink. It’s for fun, not a game feature.
