The word "gosu" comes from Korean [Korean: 고수] and means something like "expert". However, the use of the term was primarily coined in the field of gaming, where it is used as a particularly good and unrivaled teammate.

The term is known for the real-time strategy game "StarCraft". The game was developed in 1998, but it is still very popular today in Korea and is considered a popular sport in Korea.
