That means notch: notch, notch
The term “notch” is taken from English and means “notch”. On a smartphone, “notch” refers to a recess or notch on the upper edge of the display. The central bulge makes more screen available.
The space gained is usually used for operating displays, such as time, WLAN-Status and battery level, but also used for new gestures. For example, a swipe from the left or right edge can open different menus. In the case of videos and a light background, the “notch” clearly stands out, which manufacturers try to solve differently.

What does “Yeet” mean?
The first notch
To blame for the “notch” is Apple. The company presented the first smartphone with a “notch” in 2017, the iPhone X. Although it is technically unnecessary, manufacturers have since tried to further reduce the bezels of the displays. Accordingly, the English name spread, as the “notch” is not a classic notch.
Why does the notch persist?
The “notch” usually contains important sensors, as well as the earpiece and the front camera, which are necessary for various functions of the smartphone. However, they are working hard to make them smaller or at least less noticeable.
