For the third time a season 1 in Call of Duty: Warzone begins! From December 8, 2021, CoD Vanguard and the Battle Royale will be merged. And this changes a lot for you. We explain what you have to consider if you want to continue using your unlocked weapons from Modern Warfare and Cold War.
Vanguard Royale, Vanguard Plunder and Co .: What’s new?
These modes await you after the start of Season 1 in Warzone – some you already know from earlier, but others are completely new variants:
- Battle Royale (Caldera)
- Plunder (Caldera)
- Neu: Vanguard Royale
- New: Vanguard Plunder
- Neu: Vanguard Resurgence
- Resurgence (Rebirth Island)
Battle Royale (Caldera)
The familiar mode that you previously played on the Verdansk map. 150 players per match who fight for victory either alone or in duos, trios or quads in the tropical jungle. Here you can use all weapons, so all guns from Modern Warfare, Cold War and Vanguard. It remains to be seen how the balance turns out, since the latest weapons can be equipped with ten attachments instead of the previous five.
By the way, you can read here what changes in gulag, loadouts and so on:

Plunder (Caldera)
Here, too, everything stays as you know it: Instead of “last one standing”, the aim here is to collect and secure as much money as possible. If you die, you end up back on the map instead of in the gulag. Occasionally, Plunder is replaced by Blood Money, where kills make more money. Fears that the mode could be canceled have thus been dispelled.
Why Plunder is even the better mode of Warzone for Elenashe explains to you in her column.
Vanguard Royale
Here comes the first big change: This mode basically works like Battle Royale, with the important difference that you can only use weapons and vehicles from Vanguard. This should make it a pure WW2 experience. The developers promise, among other things, dogfights and anti-aircraft towers that you can man – all vehicles and assets also come from the Second World War.

Vanguard Plunder
Again, only the 40 or so weapons from Vanguard are available to you. The same applies to vehicles, so nothing with the familiar helicopters, but WW2 vehicles! The mode should appear during Season 1, but it will probably not be playable right from the start.
Vanguard Resurgence
Same rules as Vanguard Royale and Vanguard Plunder: only Vanguard equipment. The basic principle remains the same, there are fewer players, but faster respawns as long as at least one team member is alive. Like the little brother of Vanguard Royale with more action.
It is not yet known which map Vanguard Resurgence is playing on, but it is likely to be a section of Caldera. The mode should start a week after the season launch, around December 15, 2021.

Resurgence (Rebirth Island)
If you do not have Vanguard, you can only start on the new map Caldera on December 9th. On December 8th you will only have access to Rebirth Island, where you will play the famous mini version of Battle Royale. After that, Rebirth Island takes a break and is initially unavailable.
An exact date for the return is not yet known, but according to the developers, the map should be preserved and reappear sometime in Season 1. Maybe suitable for a mid-season event? We will keep you definitely up-to-date.
