- WhatsApp will no longer support old versions of Android and iOS in 2021 either.
- Devices with Android 2.3.7 as well as iPhones with iOS 8 or lower are affected.
- Changes can also be found on the messenger’s support website.
Also WhatsApp is evolving and in order to be able to maintain at least a certain level of security, operating systems that are sometimes forever old are no longer supported. In 2021, more cell phones will be incompatible with the app, the website reports Entrepeneur.
Accordingly, cell phones with iOS 8 or Android 2.3.7 are no longer supported. Support for these systems was discontinued in February 2020, but you could continue to use your accounts despite systems that are no longer supported. Only a new installation was no longer possible after deletion.

That could change in 2021, however, and WhatsApp installations that are still working can be deactivated.
There is no official statement on this, but WhatsApp changed the requirements in its Support description. There, the information gives us an insight into the changes that have already been made and which operating system versions you need at least:
- At least Android 4.0.3 is required for mobile phones with a Google system.
- At least iOS 9 is required for iPhones with Apple systems.
- You can no longer create a new account on devices with a lower operating system version.
- Existing accounts can no longer be verified on older devices after a new installation.
- Security gaps in Messenger are no longer closed by updates on older devices.
