After almost three years, the second season of Squid Game finally premiered on Netflix at the end of 2024. Meanwhile, the end of Hwang Dong-hyuk's successful streak is already certain: The third and final season of Squid Game will follow in 2025.
But when exactly does it start? A new leak coming directly from Netflix may provide the answer. Let's make it short and painless: Already on 27 June 2025 Season 3 of Squid Game is supposed to start.
Netflix itself has leaked the release of season 3
Where does this information come from? Already on January 1st, Netflix was on the in-house YouTube channel for South Korea revealed a short teaser for Season 3. He presents Chul-sul or Cheol-sul, a new, pretty scary killer doll.
An even more interesting detail was hidden (at least for the time being) in the video description: June 27, 2025 was given as the release date for season 3 of Squid Game, but was removed again shortly afterwards – as on Xformerly Twitter, was captured.

Of course, please note: This date is not 100 percent officially confirmed and it cannot be ruled out that something will change in these potential release plans.
What's next for Squid Game?
Previously, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the series creator of Squid Game, had at least narrowed down a possible release to summer to autumn 2025 (via Forbes). This probably also depends on when the new seasons of Stranger Things and Wednesday 2025 start on Netflix – there is no concrete information about that yet.
By the way: After season 3, fans of Squid Game can still look forward to new supplies. The game show with the subtitle The Challenge will also be continued with a second season. Cult director David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) is also working on a US spin-off to the South Korean series.
