Company of Heroes 3 – Real Time Strategy Test Video in Africa and Italy
This is what the tests say about Company of Heroes 3
Eurogamer declares Company of Heroes 3 to be the return of the RTS king, staying suspenseful and entertaining throughout both campaigns. In the test gives Benjamin Jakobs a 9 out of 10 and writes:
As much as I love games like Command & Conquer and Age of Empires, Company of Heroes (and that goes for part three too) is a different story. The limited units available and the exciting battles once again tie me to the screen. I never know what awaits me around the next corner (…).
PC Gamer’s Fraser Brown whips out in the test an 82 and praises most of the innovations Relic has dared to make. However, he finds some design decisions questionable, such as campaign progression, more specifically the XP system and the upgrades for your companies. But he likes all available units:
Each company has its own fantastic appeal, from the tank-focused US Armored Company to the stealthy US Airborne Company. And while they all have their own unique set of tricks, they’re all incredibly versatile too, more than up to any challenge, just in different ways.
4Players settles on a 78 (“Good”). Tester Eike Cramer praises the successful RTS elements, but would have liked more real innovations. Also, the story campaign feels more like an extended tutorial to him. His conclusion in the test:
(…) even the visual leap is limited. Yes, everything looks better, the effects pop more, the physics are much more convincing and the units are more detailed, but that’s kind of to be expected given the time difference. And yes, Company of Heroes 3 plays really, really well. I would only have wished for Relic to have had much more courage to change.

Company of Heroes 3: Our powerful tank defends a bottleneck
The most critical rating Metacritic lists comes from PC Invasion. Martynas Klimas doesn’t like the Africa campaign because the individual missions aren’t creative enough for him. Even the Italian campaign cannot really convince him. In the end there is in the test a 6 out of 10 and this conclusion:
Company of Heroes retains the gameplay of its predecessors and disappoints with bizarre campaign decisions and a lack of polish.
