Game News While we wait for the Nintendo Switch 2, a new portable console has just been revealed!
A new challenger is entering the portable console market: the manufacturer ZOTAC recently presented its new product during COMPUTEX 2024.

During Computex Taipei 2024, an IT and high-tech trade fair based in Taiwan, Chinese computer hardware manufacturer ZOTAC unveiled its major new product. With a release scheduled for September, Zotac Zone aims to enter the portable console market, which is already quite saturated. Between the Steam Deck OLED and the ROG Ally, the new product from the Chinese brand should try to make a name for itself, although its announced retail price is (currently) $799 (or around 730 dollars), higher than that of its predecessor and competitor.

If we already compare it with other portable consoles on the market, it is partly due to the price, but also because the ZOTAC Baby has certain specific features that could make the difference. Its 120 Hz AMOLED screen in particular speaks for itself, because today there is only the big sister of the ROG Ally, the ROG Ally X from Asus, which offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz. But that comes at a price: $899.99. Then the Chinese manufacturer manages to pull off a nice trick, even if at the moment it looks like Valve’s Steam Deck OLED is the currently portable console, which is available for a price of 679 dollars. In any case, the Zotac Zone will feature an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U APU processor and 16GB of LPDDR5X with a voltage of 7500MHz. The only criticism we could make is the low storage capacity, with only 512GB in NVMe M.2, which could actually be the downside of the device.
What about Nintendo?
Meanwhile, the Japanese hybrid console giant continues to sell a large number of Nintendo Switches, with the latest news stating that the manufacturer sold 1.96 million units in the last quarter of its fiscal year. And this despite the fact that the future big sister of our much-loved Switch has not yet been officially shown, even though Shuntaro Furukawa, the president of Nintendo, has spoken out to take stock of the state of his company’s consoles.
We will make an announcement about the successor to the Nintendo Switch this fiscal year. It will be more than nine years since the Nintendo Switch was launched. We will host a Nintendo Direct in June about the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the second half of 2024. However, please note that there will be no announcement about the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.
