If you watched the new trailer for Machinegame’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in Europe or English, you will have heard a voice that in both cases does not actually belong to the hero’s face. In English, because Harrison Ford doesn’t voice his likeness in the game himself, and in Europe, because a different voice actor is working than usual.
Who exactly is it that we are hearing? We’ll tell you!
Indiana Jones in Europe
Let’s first come to the Europe version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, as that is probably the version that most people here will resort to. You can take a quick look at the Europe trailer here:

Long-established fans immediately notice that Indiana sounds different and that can throw you off track with such a cult figure. So it will take some getting used to. In the past, Harrison Ford’s Europe voice was always Wolfgang Pampel, who has lent his voice to the actor since 1978.
Florian Clyde speaks Indiana Jones: Instead of Pampel, Florian Clyde is now doing the dubbing work for The Great Circle. The reasons for this are probably age. Although Pampel still fits well with the now 81-year-old Harrison Ford, he is already in Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune
Pampel’s voice from the mouth of the digitally rejuvenated Harrison seemed very inappropriate.
This isn’t Clyde’s first time voicing an iconic role associated with Harrison Ford. Already in Solo: A Star Wars Story
the 40-year-old voiced the young Han Solo – who in this film was played by Alden Ehrenreich and not by Ford himself.
Indiana Jones in English
The usual voice doesn’t sound in the original dub either, even if the difference here is a little less noticeable, at least as a native Europe speaker. You can watch the English trailer again here:

Troy Baker voices Indiana Jones: There’s a good chance you’ve heard Indy’s new English voice elsewhere. At least if you often play video games in English. Troy Baker is a true industry giant and has lent his voice to hundreds of characters over the years. Here is a small selection of characters that Baker has set to music so far:
- Gul’dan in World of Warcraft
- Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Dick Grayson und Two-Face in Batman: Arkham City / Arkham Knight
- James Sunderland in Silent Hill 2 HD
- Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite
- Joel Miller in The Last of Us 1 und 2
- Magni in God of War
What do you think of the new vocal cast for Indiana Jones? Does this all still sound like how you imagine the iconic hero to be or can’t you help but grind your teeth? Do you prefer to play in Europe or do you switch to the English version? Would you have liked Wolfgang Pampel to return or not? Write it in the comments!
