2025 will be a good year for racing game fans. With Japanese Drift Master, Wreckfest 2 and Assetto Corsa EVO we have several genre heavyweights in our house or garage.

The new Assetto Corsa in particular has big plans. The Italian studio Kunos Simulazioni wants to serve us nothing less than a racing game revolution. With more realism, a larger open world and even more precise driving physics.

GameStar colleagues Felix Rick and Sören Diedrich talked about exactly how EVO wants to achieve this during our big FYNG show. You can find the complete talk under this paragraph; We have summarized the most important details for you below.

Assetto Corsa EVO sells itself thanks to its open world and ultra-realism

The information that our racing game expert Sören presented at FYNG came straight from the developers. Before the show, Sören was able to talk to chief developer Marco Massarutto. In the talk he reports on his findings.

Ultra-realism meets open world

According to Kunos Simulazioni, Assetto Corsa EVO will offer car fans both an accessible open world and a tough simulation. The open game world is said to cover an incredible 1,600 square kilometers and depicts the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife and the surrounding Eifel area. Players can not only accelerate on the famous race track, but also drive through picturesque villages such as Quiddelbach or Döttingen – a real declaration of love for the well-known motorsport region.

Despite the new open world, the new Assetto Corsa remains true to its core DNA; the game is primarily a simulation. And according to Sören, the developers make no compromises when it comes to driving physics. The realism ranges from detailed weather and rain physics to dynamic drying sections of the track.

A new career mode will take players through missions and challenges similar to Forza Horizon. However, Assetto Corsa EVO always aims to be accessible without taking away the immersion for hardcore fans.

When early access starts on January 16, 2025, there will be a solid base with 20 vehicles and five race tracks, including classics like Imola and Laguna Seca. The developers plan to expand Assetto Corsa EVO with updates over the years. There should be no microtransactions; Instead, the developers plan to enrich the game with additional vehicles and tracks with full DLCs.

There is currently no final start date for the new Assetto Corsa. The 1.0 release is scheduled for autumn after the end of the early access phase. For now, however, only PC users can get behind the virtual wheel. There will be a console version, but the developers have not yet named a specific schedule for it.
