Will the myth of Half-Life 3 become reality? A new discovery in the Steam database is adding fuel to the fire and panicking fans waiting for an announcement.
Millions of fans have wanted to believe in Half Life 3 for more than 20 years, and as they say, there is hope. But they rightly assumed that the franchise might make a comeback at some point. Even though it's not a classic game, Valve has brought back its cult franchise with Half-Life Alyx. A PCVR title that has turned the heads of virtual reality gamers, but that's why it's not accessible to everyone.
A new sign of Half Life 3's existence?
Why talk about the game again after all this time? Because the rumor has increased in the last few weeks. According to YouTuber Tyler McVicker, two games from the license are in development. At the Game Awards 2024, a former Apple employee said the following: “The rumor I heard, and I'm not kidding, is that Gabe [Newell] will be there to announce Half Life 3. Personally, I don't believe it. But maybe that's what Jason [Schreier] parle ». But as we know, that wasn't the case.
A week ago, another videographer, Gabe Follower, hinted that Half Life 3 was real and was even in the playtest phase. Then there was this strange message from Mike Shapiro, the voice actor for Gordon Freeman aka G-Man. “Already a new year. It is a pleasure to see and hear from so many of you. May the next quarter century hold as many unexpected surprises as the first millennium.” He wrote on his X account with the hashtags #Valve, #Half-Life and #G-Man. Which reignited the rumor about Half-Life 3.
Even today, fans are still excited after an equally strange discovery on Valve's Steam profile. As we can see from our self-made recording, there are two games in the Upcoming Releases category. To the right of the filters we see a preview of Deadlock, Valve's MOBA/Hero shooter. But where is the second title? Well, that's the whole question. For some, this hidden game could be Half Life 3… Do you agree with this theory?
