Fans are clamoring for a remake of the original God of War trilogy. The clues on this topic are multiplying with new information.
A rumor is sparking interest in the gaming community: A remake of the original God of War trilogy is reportedly in development for the PS5. Although this information was initially met with skepticism due to its source, it is gradually gaining credibility, reminiscent of the case of the reports about the God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC, which turned out to be correct despite initial denials from Santa Monica Studio. What do we know about it a few days later? As always, the following should be taken with caution. And nothing has been made official at this level yet, so we have to remain cautious.
The rumor about “God of War” is gaining momentum
A Reddit user reported that YouTuber GameBreakerGod held a question and answer session with two developers from Santa Monica Studio during a Valhalla DLC livestream. When asked why he didn’t ask the developers about the alleged remake, GameBreakerGod stated that Santa Monica Studio did not authorize these questions…
This rejection was interpreted by some fans as an indication that the God of War trilogy could very well be in the works for the PS5. However, it’s also possible that Santa Monica Studio simply chose not to answer questions that weren’t related to the main topic of the video, namely the Valhalla DLC.
Double dose of hope
At the same time, current Kratos actor Chris Judge revealed that he was asked to voice Terrence Carson, Kratos’ former voice actor, but he declined. The judge then clarified that this request did not come from Santa Monica Studio… These various elements help fuel speculation about a possible remake of the original God of War trilogy for the PS5. So far there is no official confirmation from Santa Monica Studio or Sony Interactive Entertainment. But of course the hope for the fans is immense, especially when we know how much the players love the series.
There’s no denying that the early games in the GoW series are showing signs of age. The first game was released in 2005, the second followed in 2007, and God of War 3 was released in 2010, with a remastered version released on PS4 a few years later. These titles are therefore no longer current and their age is noticeable.
