- Microsoft publishes the first pre-release version for Insider with new and revised tools.
- Teams’ video calling app Chat is now available.
- The Snipping Tool, calculator, mail and calendar apps have all been redesigned.
Microsoft released with the most recent pre-release version of Windows 11 new and revised programs and tools for the first time. Windows Insider, who is the successor to Windows 10 Have been able to test the beta version for a few weeks now and see the first new content. Small spoiler: The Android integration is not included yet.
The Redmond-based company is using chats to implement the video telephony service for Microsoft Teams in the new system. Using the central button on the taskbar, you can start chats, phone calls or video calls with contacts in no time at all. These are simply added via the email address or a phone number.

Notification by desktop message, email or SMS
You will be notified of incoming messages via the desktop or your respective device. If you do not use Teams, you will receive an e-mail or even SMS with the message and an invitation to teams, depending on the contact address, see above Microsoft in the announcement
It is not known whether this is already possible in the preliminary version. Teams chat isn’t the only innovation. Microsoft has like previously announced revised the screenshot tool “Snipping Tool” and now delivers it to all Insiders.
Snipping Tool combines the best features of two programs that, despite their almost identical function, took up storage space in Windows 10. In the new version you can finally take screenshots in the same program and crop and change them in one application.

Finally, Microsoft is releasing two well-known programs in the revised Fluent design, the “Calculator” and “Mail & Calendar”. The visual update for “Mail & Calendar” is a bit surprising, as it has already been leaked that the Redmond are working on a new and cross-device Outlook version.

However, it must also be borne in mind that Microsoft sees Windows 11 as an ongoing development. Accordingly, in the not too distant future, “Mail & Calendar” can be resolved into “Outlook-for-everyone”.
