This year it’s really bewitched: numerous top titles have already been postponed to the coming year 2023 – and now another promising shooter has been hit.
As has now been confirmed, the Witchfire shooter will no longer be released in the current year 2022. The title was originally intended for the fourth quarter and should then at least start in Early Access, but even this Early Access start has now had to be postponed to next year. Developer The Astronauts now gives the beginning of 2023 as the new period for this, but leaves a specific date open.
The title was originally announced in December 2017 and has since been followed closely by genre fans, as Witchfire is considered promising. According to a blog entry, the background to the shift that has now been communicated is that the fights in the title are now transformed from arena-style encounters into more organic open-world fights. Since this is a more significant change, the postponement has become necessary.
But there is also positive news: Even this reorientation of the game has now been implemented to 95 percent, so that no further major shifts are expected. However, the developer is convinced that the step was generally correct: “It makes the game better. It’s now difficult for me to imagine that the player didn’t have this freedom before,” explains Creative Director Adrian Chmielarz, for example.
