For years, Horde and Alliance working together in World of Warcraft was unthinkable. But lately, Blizzard seems to be rethinking. A patch last year made cross-faction groups in dungeons and raids possible. Now we go one step further.
Love instead of slaps
The big patch 10.1 brings namely cross-faction guilds, allowing you to join the same group with Horde and Alliance friends and enjoy perks like guild repairs. After all, playing with others often creates memories that you think back on years later:

However, the new feature should remain purely optional, as a developer in the Interview mit Gamespot reveals. You don’t want to shake the identity of Horde and Alliance, or make peace the standard experience, but allow interested players to play together.
How does this work?
In the first Patch Notes A test version of the update already gives some details:
- Guilds still belong to either the Horde or the Alliance, which is determined by the faction affiliation of the guild leader. For example, guild achievements and vendors still reflect the faction of the guild.
- Members belonging to the opposite faction benefit from unlocked shared perks, but cannot contribute to certain achievements (e.g. if someone from the Horde belongs to an alliance guild, they cannot contribute to an achievement that requires killing Horde members ).
While the new feature is being tested, some aspects may still change.
When is the patch coming?
There is no exact release date for Patch 10.1 yet, but according to the roadmap, the update should appear between spring and summer and will herald Season 2 of the latest Dragonflight expansion. You can read what else is planned for this year according to the roadmap in our overview.
As you can see in the picture above, the developers want to deliver some more new content with Patch 10.1. These include the new Zaralek Cave area, a new raid with a total of 9 bosses and more.
What do you think of cross-faction guilds? Have you been waiting for this feature for a long time, or would you never team up with a member of the opposite faction?
