WWE 2K22 would look great with a completely redesigned engine

2K22, completely, engine, great, redesigned, WWE

Since the WWE 2K20 debacle, World Wrestling Entertainment lovers have sniffed it. After an empty year in which the very absurd WWE 2K Battlegrounds are not really counted, the series is preparing for its return thanks to Visual Concepts (NBA 2K) and some have heard reassuring returners.

WWE 2K22 would be awesome. That term is one that Forbes reporter Brian Mazique heard from people familiar with the development of 2K’s next iteration of wrestling games, announced last April in a video starring Rey Mysterio and Cesaro.

During a small Face Cam stream on YouTube (visible above) it starts around the 22nd minute:

I’ve actually spoken to people who know the game well and understand what’s going on from a development perspective, and what I was told about the gameplay at that point is that it is fantastic. This is the exact word that was used for the last version. People who have played the latest version have rated the gameplay as fantastic. We’ll be careful because everyone who talks about gameplay at this point is probably pretty close to 2K so you need to be careful with it, but I was told the game plays fantastically well and the gameplay engine was completely rebuilt .

So brand new. But maybe also with certain functional elements that would have been borrowed from the engine of the games developed by Yuke’s. Mazique’s sources also told him the models would be impressive and the controls would be much more successful.

Before that, he will have approached the squad. Quoting wrestlers who have left the WWE, he explains that that doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t join the roster: there is a deadline for submitting the cast of the game and whether the athlete’s contract is still in effect. Only WWE could refuse to participate.

Any summer news soon?

Keep in mind that WWE 2K22 is in the hands of Visual Concepts, which had a lot more time to develop. The studio had delivered such a poor copy of WWE 2K20 that it was forced to skip a possible WWE 2K21. Reassuring news is always good. The announcement promised that communication about the game would be more transparent and faster. What if that statement was a calculated first step?

As we learned from a promotional video during the Money in the Bank event on July 18th, as a sponsor of SummerSlam 2021, will WWE 2K22 be eligible for a red carpet and prove to us that it’s awesome? Reply on Saturday, August 21, during the WWE event taking place at Allegiant Stadium.
