Reports have been circulating for some time that Microsoft wants to fundamentally revise Xbox Achievements – and this work is now apparently nearing completion.
The first reports began circulating last fall that Microsoft wanted to fundamentally revise the achievement and reward system on the Xbox. New elements such as Platinum Achievements will also be introduced in the future, but there has not yet been a date for this.
Now there are new reports that this overhaul of the achievements system is now well advanced and will probably go live during 2024. At least that’s what the usually well-informed Shpeshal Nick reports on in the XboxEra Podcast.
“From what I hear, Xbox is now almost done with the achievements overhaul, including changes to the achievements themselves; we should see that next year,” said the insider shortly before the turn of the year. “When they say next year, I assume they realize it’s New Year’s Eve; so I assume they mean 2024.”
The new achievement system is an important part of Microsoft’s roadmap, after all it contains a number of areas that many players have long wanted on the Xbox, including Diamond or Platinum achievements for 100 percent completion of a game, a showcase for your own merits on the player profile, a better tracking system for in-progress achievements or a reporting system for bugs related to achievements.
The revision is also overdue because the current system has existed for almost two decades.
