Following rumors that many big games will no longer be exclusive and that Microsoft is exiting the console race, the company is doubling down on the future of Xbox, assuring fans that the console isn’t going away. The company’s future in gaming also has some really tantalizing peaks, including next-gen consoles.
There were numerous announcements from Matt Booty (Head of Xbox Game Studios), Sarah Bond (President of Xbox), and Phil Spencer (Head of Xbox), who detailed the gaming platform in the Official Xbox Podcast. Bond is set to drop a slew of bombshells, including the news that the company will be making a hardware-related announcement “this holiday season,” meaning the 2024 holiday season. She also said that Xbox’s focus for next-generation hardware is to make “the biggest technological leap we’ve ever seen in a generation of hardware.”

At the end of the podcast, the trio were asked what does Xbox stand for? Of course, there’s also plenty of marketing-friendly claims and recaps of all the Xbox’s strengths. But in terms of gaming, the future of Xbox will also reach an alluring peak! This comes from Mr. Booty, who commented on the number of Xbox developers.
“The biggest games will continue to come to Xbox,” Booty said. He then noted that by 2024, Xbox will have more than 10 major releases, including Hellblade 2, Avowed, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and more games we know about. He also teased that there’s more content in the works, which we’ll obviously hear more about at the Xbox Showcase in June. So be sure to mark your calendars.
