At the end of last year, rumors were already circulating that Microsoft could be planning a first Xbox Games Showcase with new releases early in the new year 2023. A reliable insider now brings a specific date into play.
Anyone who has read igamesnews from time to time over the holidays and vacations knows that rumors have it that the first Xbox Games Showcase could be on the agenda early in 2023 – and this rumor is now getting new fuel today. A well-known insider is now even mentioning a specific broadcast date for this.
What is meant, of course, is the extremely reliable and well-informed Microsoft expert Jez Corden von Windows Central, who now provides relevant information. In the past he has regularly correctly leaked Xbox and Microsoft news in advance of an announcement – this time too?
If Corden is right with h is new information, then we can expect the first Xbox Games Showcase of the still young year 2023 on January 25th. The broadcast is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. PT, which would then correspond to 9:00 p.m. German time. Interested parties should make a careful note of this date, but wait for the official announcement that is still pending.
Such an early broadcast in the new year would not be surprising in that Microsoft basically had no real appearance at the Game Awards 2022 in December. Compared to the competition, there is probably some catching up to do in this respect. According to reports, not only upcoming titles and new announcements could be shown on the Xbox Games Showcase, but also upcoming additions to the Xbox Game Pass game subscription could be confirmed.
According to Corden, the showcase should be given the specific name “Developer_Direct” and not take on the dimensions of, for example, a Microsoft E3 showcase. So you should rather expect a scope that you know from classic Nintendo Direct or PlayStation State-of-Play conferences far away from the big events. The insider also names some games that should have an appearance: the new Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends and the co-op vampire shooter Redfall from Bethesda. The promising sci-fi epic Starfield, on the other hand, will probably not be shown any further and will only appear at a larger event.
We will of course keep you informed of further developments!
