Andrew Wilson was present, as appropriate, during the last financial balance of EA And the company's CEO slipped the idea that Dragon Age: The Veilguard did not reach expectations for not being a game as a service. The statement has created quite controversial and has been now when former developers of BioWare They have taken a step forward to answer.
As they collect from Eurogamerformer creative director of the saga, Mike Laidlaw, He pointed in Bluesky that “if someone told me: 'The key to the success of this IP of a single player is to make it a purely multiplayer game. No, not a spin-off: fundamentally change the DNA of what people loved of the main game', I probably don't know would give up that job or something.”
The truth is that the disagreements between EA and Laidlaw agreed at the time the brand decided to transform Dragon Age: The Veilguard In a game as a service. It was then that, after more than 15 years in the developer, Laidlaw left her discipline. On the other hand, David Gaider, the one who was a scriptwriter of the franchise, also has expressed his opinion About Wilson's words:
“If I try to be empathetic, I can understand the logic here. Let's say that you don't really know much about video games. You are in a large office with other executives who don't know much about video games either. What do everyone say? 'The games like service generate large numbers! ' 'The action games are fashionable!'
You have an IP that many people love. Deeply. At his peak, he sold enough to become happy, right? Look at what did better at the time he sold more. Follow the example of Larian and bets on it. The public is still there. And waiting. “
Of course, advise to follow the path of Baldur's Gate 3 seems a safe bet to succeed, but everything is in the hands of EA and what he decides to do with the next installment of Dragon Age… if it comes to exist.
