As 2023 comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to take stock of your video gaming activities. With this in mind, Microsoft is offering Xbox users a particularly nice feature.
The year 2023 is coming to an end and with it the revelation of the gaming habits of Xbox users, including those of Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox. What new can we learn from the American manufacturer? What is certain is that it will certainly delight the most curious, especially those who would like to know all the details about their friends.
Your Xbox year is summed up
Microsoft has introduced Xbox Annual Review, a feature that allows gamers to see how many hours they’ve spent playing their favorite games. This retrospective provides an in-depth look at gaming habits, including each player’s overall score, their favorite genres, and a comparison with other Xbox fans around the world.
One of the most striking examples is that of Phil Spencer. Despite his leadership position at a major technology company and leading Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, Spencer found time to devote to his favorite games. His results are revealing: with 148 hours of play, he is in the top 10% of active players of Starfield, Bethesda’s role-playing game. While this number is less impressive considering he has been playing since July 2023, it remains notable.
Outside of Starfield, Phil Spencer has also spent a lot of time with Diablo 4, with 143 hours of playtime, placing him in the top 20% of active players of this Blizzard title. He has unlocked 18 of the 25 achievements available in this game. Another notable title in his 2023 game library is Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity, which he invested 124 hours in, placing him in the top 5% of active players.
Above all, curiosity
These statistics confirm Spencer’s strong interest in role-playing games. Additionally, he played other notable Xbox releases of the year such as Forza Horizon 5, Remnant 2, Ravenlok, Age of Empires 2 and Grounded.
The Xbox Year in Review initiative offers a unique perspective on gaming trends within the Xbox community, illuminating not only the preferences of everyday gamers, but also those of the industry’s flagships.
In the same sense, it is a little reminiscent of the concept that Steam proposed to its users, although with more details. It’s always interesting to share your profile and make comparisons with your online friends (or others) to find out who the most dedicated player is.
