After Years, The Pokemon Company Is Finally Showing Off pokemon sleepIt actually came out this year.
“We know we’ve kept you waiting, but we can finally bring you Pokemon Sleep later this year,” said The Pokemon Company COO Takato Utsunomiya after showing off a new trailer for the long-awaited Pokemon Sleep . First revealed about four years ago in 2019, we haven’t heard anything (maybe it needs to sleep for a few more hours), but this re-publication finally shows us what you can do in the app other than just sleep.
This particular Pokemon adventure takes place on a small island where you’ll spend time with a new Pokemon professor named Professor Neroli. Together, through You Really Just Sleep, you’ll look at different types of sleep. If you hold your phone next to your pillow, it will record, measure and analyze your sleep like no other sleep tracking app. It being Pokemon, of course there are sleep “types”, and there are three main types that can be found: Dozed, Dozed, and Slumbered.
Different Pokemon will obviously sleep differently, and depending on how you sleep, different Pokemon may congregate around the sleeping Snorlax on your island. There are also less common sleeping positions, such as goofy or drop-eared, so your task is to study different sleeping positions.
It’s coming to Android and iOS later this year, and there’s even some optional hardware you can get your hands on. While it’s a silly name, Pokemon Go Plus+ (it’s the plus sign in the name) is an updated version of Pokemon Go Plus that will feature Pokemon Sleep. There is a Pikachu inside, it will accompany you to sleep, it will sing you a lullaby. You can use the device as a cell phone replacement and keep it with you in bed to help track your sleep. The device also works with Pokemon Go just like the original, so you can use it to catch Pokemon and spin stops. More features for Pokemon Go are also coming later, and linking it to the app will get you a special Snorlax with a nightcap.
Nintendo also showed off some upcoming DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the first of which will be released this fall.
