With the release of version 1.4 of Zenless Zone Zero, a host of major additions as well as minor tweaks and fixes have been rolled out to an eager community of players. However, it's this desire that's caused some backlash over the past few days, as an update brought semi-occlusion for certain camera angles, allowing players to “close up” their player avatars.

Members of the Zenless community noticed the change and took to social media and Reddit to express their disdain. Hordes of mobs from around the world raised their voices in unison, angry that close-ups of butts could no longer be filmed. This has proven to be an important link between Zenless Zone Zero players of all faiths.

Some even pointed to censorship as a potential cause, because of course they did. A post on Reddit provides guidance on how to file a complaint on the App Store about the shocking change. Others offer tips on how to capture these beautiful photos without resorting to external mods. It was quite a racket.

This change is now believed to be to stop character models from clipping the environment. You see, most characters are small enough to fit well into the game's environment, but with a character as gigantic as Ben, this can become an issue. The quality of life has changed a lot, but something seems to be wrong.

However, earlier today, HoYoverse released a statement addressing some of the bugs it is aware of and those that are being fixed. These include changes to camera angles, for which it provided the following statement: “Fixed an issue in version 1.4 where 'Agents appear faded when viewed from certain angles' Adjusted fade effects would not display correctly in some cases. ”

So this is indeed a bug, at least according to the developers. As you can imagine, this sparked a Star Wars Episode III-style celebration among the community. There was great joy as Zenless fans were able to get back to their favorite pastimes of looking up dresses and gambling without having to worry about Big Brother looking over their shoulder.

So there you have it. While the camera isn't quite back to original form yet, it seems to have landed in that nice middle ground between mobster delight and expected quality-of-life fixes. As a reward, the community also received a large amount of in-game currency from the developers as a “sorry” gift. At this point, peace has been restored in the world of Wu Zen Zero Zone.
