iOS app update released
Video conferencing tool Zoom has been updated. This will change the "Sign in with Facebook" feature. From now on, the app should no longer secretly transfer data to social networks. However, Zoom will not respond to further allegations.
An update to the video conferencing app Zoom has been available in the App Store since March 27. According to the change log, in version 4.6.9, developers are improving Facebook login. The update sounds harmless, but it's actually a response to allegations made against developers by US magazine Mainboard. Because analysis of the application's data traffic shows that Zoom secretly transmits data about the device used for Facebook without identifying the user-even if the user does not have a Facebook account.

Zoom confirmed this to the motherboard, but said it didn't know the data was being sent to Facebook. The "Use Facebook Login" feature provided by Facebook has been integrated into the app for quick access by users. In the future, Zoom no longer wants to use the corresponding programming interface from Facebook, but instead implements a login using a Facebook account in another way.
However, data protection experts are critical to the application. For example, meeting leaders and administrators will have many functions to monitor participants.
