Nintendo debuted its new console, the GameCube, at Nintendo Space World in 2000 and collectors have been trying to track down the famous unit for years. Well, the 2000 Nintendo Space World GameCube was finally found by Donny Fillerup of Console Variations who was able to purchase it for an undisclosed amount of money. You can see his discoveries here as well as many photos on his blog.

Difference between 2000 Nintendo Space World units:
- Spaceworld has a window cover
- The reset button is flat
- The power button is round and is actually a ‘convex button’
- The names ‘power’, ‘reset’ and ‘open’ are printed in white and are not etched (more details in other pictures)
- The front has 2 differences,
- On the memory card slot, Spaceworld has “Digi card A” and “Digi card B” written on it.
- On the retail version, there is an “ATI” logo in the right corner.
- ATI CPU was announced but we assume for Spaceworld, no other logo or other sticker was shown, in the end ATI had 2 very limited edition GameCube consoles, ? Check here and here
- Differences
- Spaceworld has 121 cooling vents while retail has 64
- Underneath the vents, retail has a little ‘wing’ on the side, while Spaceworld doesn’t.
- At first glance, there isn’t much, but when you compare, you notice the following:
- The holes for GBA players are much bigger,
- There are no areas where there could be a serial number sticker
- Again, the covers have their names printed in white, while the retail pages have them etched.
- Opening the cover reveals some minor design changes to the disc tray,
- it has some angles instead of a round finish and the lid goes much wider, very likely to show the inside.
- A very small detail, it says “push” in black in the middle, while in retail it has a holographic button
