One of our biggest gripes with Antonblast on Switch was its performance at launch. In our review, we noted that the slowdown during the more chaotic moments of gameplay can “cheap the experience enough to be disappointing,” which isn't exactly ideal for a 2D platformer where speed is a key factor.
Fortunately, a new update has been released that provides a welcome performance boost, increasing the frame rate to a much more acceptable 60 fps. According to the announcement, bug fixes have also been implemented, but the Summitsphere developer didn't elaborate on which issues specifically.
Antonblast is a modern new platformer that, along with the recently released Pizza Tower, looks like an homage to Nintendo's long-dormant Land of Wario series. It's been a while on Switch, with a few unfortunate delays here and there, but it sounds like the wait has been well worth it, especially with this new performance patch available now.
