Atari's RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic hit the Switch this week and, frankly, it's an all-around good time. In our review, we praised the game's endless creative freedom and its ability to deliver hours of rollercoaster-making fun, but there was one small omission in the Switch port that left us scratching our heads: where the hell are the touch controls?

The new control scheme is well thought out and we had no issues with button input when playing on the big screen. But given that the 2016 original boasted touchscreen functionality on its smartphone launch platforms and, you know, the Switch it has a touch screenseems like an odd feature not to make the cut.

One look at YouTube gaming comments launch trailer confirmed that we're not alone in our confusion, but Atari's response to one thread suggests that the studio may implement this in the future.

The publisher confirmed that it hadn't “forgotten” touch support, but its goal with the Switch version was instead “focused on creating an experience that mimics the PC version so that Switch players can finally access the game in their dock and handheld the first time path in history”. When the user further examines the missing feature @Liquid2substanc3the studio responded with the following: “We know people want it and we hope to add it in the future so we'll make sure to keep you posted”.

Okay, no clue when touch support could land, not even an official confirmation that it has surely 100% comingbut at least it's something. Atari has heard the desire for touch controls and there is “hope” they will add them down the line. We will consider that a victory.

Even without the touch controls, we still had a blast with RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic on Switch, claiming it “maintains its crown as the master of all theme park management simulations.” You can read our full review below.
