Autechre, a music duo, had been included in the credits of Metroid Prime. In fact, both of its members, Sean Booth and Rob Brown, were specifically credited. However, despite some fan speculation, it was never officially known why they were there in the first place.
Well, that has changed. Sean Booth recently took part in a Twitch AMA. There, Booth was asked about the matter. Booth revealed that they had been originally asked by Nintendo to work on the game’s soundtrack. Unfortunately, according to Booth, “Nintendo kind of borked it for some reason and wanted their guy to do it”.
Booth also comments that “I don’t know how much involvement they had in the sound of it, whether they intentionally tried to make it sound a bit more [like] us, but I don’t think so really. I’ve read people saying that they think it sounds a bit like us, but I don’t think it does. But it’s subjective”. A tweet relaying the news is down below.
