Creative director and writer for Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2, Enrique Cabeza, teased an upcoming announcement for the series on X. The official site for Blasphemous reposted it, adding that the announcement will in fact be coming soon.
The Blasphemous series combines elements of Metroidvania and Souls and follows the pilgrimage of the Penitent as he traverses the cursed land of Cvstodia in search of salvation for himself and those he meets on his travels.
The first Blasphemous was blessed with three sets of free DLC titled “The Stir of Dawn,” “Strife and Ruin,” and “Wounds of Eventide,” leading some to speculate that this upcoming announcement will be free DLC for last year’s Blasphemous 2. Others, meanwhile, are praying for the reveal of Blasphemous 3. A prequel or spin-off could also be possible for all we know, but it’s only a matter of time before the fog clears.
