The launch of the long-awaited Overwatch 2 didn’t go as planned for Blizzard. The servers were hit for a couple of days with an intense distributed denial-of-service attack meaning that players couldn’t get into matches etc and some players noticed that their progress and character unlocks from the original game weren’t transferred over. These issues have mostly been fixed now and Blizzard says that they have largely stabilised the game overall and continue to make progress in fixing or improving bugs players have been facing. To apologise for the issues Overwatch 2 players faced at launch they will be given the following:
- All players who log in from October 25 through to the end of Season One will receive an all-new Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary skin and a Health Pack Weapon Charm.
- Blizzard is planning to run several Double Match XP weekends. Specific dates for those will be revealed soon.
