The Nintendo Switch will be 6 years old this year, so fans are only fueling speculation about Nintendo’s next video game console. However, Bloomberg’s report may suggest that Nintendo isn’t quite ready to move on from the Switch just yet.
According to Bloomberg via “people familiar with the matter,” Nintendo plans to increase production of the Switch starting in the next fiscal year, which begins in the spring. In fact, Nintendo has apparently already told suppliers and assembly partners this.
As for why, there are several reasons. Nintendo is confident it can be done now that supply issues and shortages are beginning to ease. They also believe that demand for the console is still strong and expect that demand to remain so for at least another year. Even so, the company is willing to revise its plans in case demand unexpectedly drops, which is likely why Nintendo hasn’t given its suppliers and assembly partners a specific target number of Switch units to produce.
