Be sure to cast your votes in the poll below; but first, let’s look at the box designs themselves.
North America
Okay, this one is really pretty, with the protagonist and his adorable canine companion trotting around a box with the farm itself in the background. The art style is excellent, although we’re a bit confused by the sudden color change on the far right. We get that those logos and stuff stand out more, but why give the artwork a reddish filter all of a sudden? Strange.
Japan
In keeping with the trends of the time, the Japanese box set for Harvest Moon 64 is much more abstract, again featuring the protagonist and his dog, but this time blended into a lovely little portrait composition. The area surrounding the image is made to look like grass, and it’s really quite well done. The art style itself, on the other hand, is reminiscent of classic clay and is actually quite similar to the way the game itself looks.
Thanks for voting! See you next time for another round of Box Art Brawl.
