North America
We’ll start with the version of the game that is actually called Trace Memory. This North American cover is creepy. Of course, it gives you a quick summary of what the game is about (talk about it tell don’t show, huh?), but everything else exudes mystery. What does our protagonist strive for? Why is it so dark? What’s that weird writing in the background? It’s an introduction to David Fincher Se7en. Make of it what you will.
Europe
While it’s hardly the friendliest looking cover, this European variant is at least a little less spooky than its NA companion. The dark background here is replaced by a mysterious island with a CRT grain, we get to see more of our protagonist, and that creepy text is nowhere to be found. An element of mystery is still presented here, but perhaps not as murder-like.
