The Switch 2 rumors just keep on coming. In fact, it can be said that they have become even more common now compared to a month ago. The vast majority of this is due to accessory makers showing off the products they have in store for Nintendo's successor console, the Switch. The latest example of this, however, might be the most daring yet.
As of this writing, CES 2025 is currently taking place in the United States. Specifically, it takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tech event doesn't usually have a lot of gaming news for fans, but accessory maker Genki is stirring up some excitement. Not only are they showing off Switch 2 accessories behind closed doors, but they also have mock-ups of the Joy-Cons and the Switch 2 itself.
German media outlet Netzwelt managed to get their hands on a mannequin of the model at the event, where they stated that it was not actually on display at their booth. Instead, it's only used to show potential customers what Genki's plugins do and what they've been working on. Genki told Netzwelt that the fake model's dimensions are exactly the same as the real Switch 2, and that “even rudimentary functions like removing the Joy-Con should work like Nintendo's upcoming console.” Genki is planning more Switch 2 products, including docks and controllers.
Netzwelt noted that the fake model feels “significantly larger in the hand.” In fact, they compare it to
Lenovo Legion Go, which they said they tested at IFA 2023 in Berlin. They also talked about the Joy-Cons, saying that “if you take the Joy-Con off the doll, you can move them to the side and you don't have to push them up anymore. However, they don't stick to the doll magnetically, so the upcoming handheld will likely have a mechanical lock for the controllers as well”.
The last thing Netzwelt said was that “the doll at CES has an extra button on the right Joy-Con. This is not marked on the dummy, but it is likely to be the new C-button”. Again, it's worth noting that none of this comes from Nintendo itself. Still, it's all the more urgent for Nintendo to actually reveal the console.
