With last month's Nintendo Switch 2 he discovered, Nintendo teased something we would all wait for (well, after weeks of leak) – a potential mode of mouse. It peeks a little into the optical laser, joy rolling quickly on the surface like a mouse.
There are several obvious candidates for games that would make miracles with a mouse controller, but the highest new edition next week is Sid Meier's civilization VII. So trust people IGN Ask Firaxis developer about her thinking about a potential feature in an interview.
In an interview with IGN were the chief designer of civilization VII Ed Beach and the executive producer of the game Dennis Shirk. On the topic of the Switch 2, Shirk gave an expected tight answer, calling it “intriguing” and not confirming anything.
Of course, this is to be expected- why show your hand when Nintendo just teased the feature? But Shirk is full of praise for detection and potential, especially because “you always do some compromises when you have to deal with pure console controls.” In addition, he told IgN to detect the console:
“And the announcement has some great things in it. I love what they do with controllers. It's all great. That's about all I can say about it in terms of opinion. I mean it's not wrong, so it would be cool for something like that.”
At the very least, Firaxis loves the sound of a mouse controller – and we do it. But what could Nintendo do with things?
We speculated, of course, but there are several obvious candidates, including CIV VII's franchise of the first PC, or at least it used to be. But whether Nintendo will go back compatible with this functionality remains to be seen.
Civilization VII is triggered by an inclusion 11 February 2025which is the first day with every other version. The reviews fell to play yesterday, although they are all intended for PCs, and the general consensus is good, if a little mixed on a simplified design.
