The Switch has been home to a number of visual novels so far, and next month will receive another award-nominated title in the form of Mediterranea Inferno.
Starting at March 5this one is about three men in their 20s trying to rebuild their friendship after the traumatic events of the 2020 pandemic. To do so, the trio jet off to the south of Italy — sounds good to us — but what awaits them there seems to be something much trickier .
You will choose what the group does day and night, watching events that promise to delve into their darkest fears, desires and appetites for revenge. Then it’s not the most relaxing holiday.
This one comes from developer Lorenzo Redaelli and publisher Santa Ragione and seems to continue their trend of beautiful visuals and powerful soundtracks seen in previous titles like Milky Way Prince – The Vampire Star and Saturnalia.
You can find some of the game’s features and check out some screenshots below.
A lazy afternoon by the pool, a lusty night at the club or even a morbid visit to the local cemetery: you decide for yourself how you will spend this summer vacation, but wherever you go, something or someone will be waiting for you and offering an extra, a forbidden journey through the mysterious inner spaces of conscience.
– Choose daily activities for the trio and see how they do influence the story.
– New sneaky drama from the creator Prince of the Milky Way – a vampire star.
– AND a generational story it is as moving as it is disturbing.
– With music, music, writingand art from the game’s creator, including hundreds and hundreds of original illustrations.
The game was released on Steam last year and has since been nominated for three awards at the 2024 Independent Games Festival including ‘Excellence in Narrative’.
Mediterranea Inferno brings spooky summer vibes to the Switch eShop next month for $9.99 (or your regional equivalent).
