In less than two months, the world will be beautiful in a brand new Mario Kart playing on the new Nintendo Console. Mario Kart World launches together with Switch 2 5. June 2025, but many have questioned whether this new title, which comes 11 years after the last -brand new console, Mario Kart, is actually a stop.
Fortunately, people on Digital foundry (through Eurogamer) They watched all the official shots we have, and some key comparisons with the previous game Mario Kart and on Wii in and Switch.
Comparing it to Mario Kart 8, DF's Oliver McKenzie says that the key innovation with the world is a new open world structure, which we have seen and experienced so far. On top of all, now at any time can be up to 24 runners on the track. But many similar technological choices have been brought in a new game, even if it looks up to a step.
For example, McKenzie points out that the world still uses a lot of baked lighting, with some environmental lighting “very much calculated” implated for certain items. The layered objects and flags use real -time shading, but the display is a little simple elsewhere. The light source, basically, remains in the same place no matter what the time of the day is on the course.
Also similar to Mario Kart 8, the world polygonal position is a little loose, which McKenzie thinks is to “maintain the level of detail to a minimum.” However, there are great improvements to the display, especially in the water, which looks absolutely beautiful. The cube mapping is also not used on thoughts for thinking, but is used on other surfaces such as glass.
Details in paths and roads are much more prominent in the world, which you can see in ice courses and in the asphalt itself. For example, there are actually cracks on the road, and you can see where the color faded from too many cars that drove over it.
One course McKenzie watches is Sky-High Sundae, a Major Course Trail in 8 Deluxe returning to Mario Kart World. It is immediately obvious that the work of art and presentation are much better and more detailed – but many have been a visual fall from the basic game for the song Booster.
Other aspects with great, if subtle, improvements include signs, designs and even court animations. Everything is much more expressive on the whole board, with a lot more details and lighting to make the world look even better than 8 luxury.
It dives a lot, so be sure to watch the whole video from Digital Foundry. Plus, when the game starts, we are sure that the team will test everything on the racing track. You can also look at our own comparison with Mario Kart 8 to see only how different they are.
