In celebration of the 30th anniversary of EarthBound (Mother 2), it will be released el “Mother Red’s GW-6900”, a watch manufactured by Casio in collaboration with the franchise. This red watch features the Mother logo on the display and the word “Potential” at the bottom.
When you turn on the backlight, the word ‘SMAAAASH!!’ will light up, and the black telephone object from the game is engraved on the back. Although some may not appreciate the striking red color, there is a recognition of the need to offer something different from the standard black design. This is the second watch in a planned “trilogy”, with the inscription “To be continued” on the strap, although the release date of the third model is not yet known. The Mother Red GW-6900 will be priced at 23,980 yen (approximately $160 / £127) at launch.
This collaboration between Mother and Casio to commemorate EarthBound’s 30th anniversary is a testament to the franchise’s lasting impact. Attention to detail, such as incorporating game elements into the watch’s design, shows an effort on Casio’s part to capture the essence of EarthBound.
