Video game ratings almost always have something noteworthy to pay attention to. Most of the time they offer hints about what the content of the video game will have. Also, sometimes a rating may appear for a video game that hasn’t even been released yet. Sometimes a game may have been released on one platform, but a rating appears for a platform that hasn’t even been confirmed for the game yet.
For example, an ESRB rating has surfaced for Fantasian: Neo Dimension, an enhanced version of Square Enix’s 2021 game Fantasian coming out later this year. The game received an “E10+” rating, which stands for “All +10”. Meanwhile, rating notes mention “Fantasy violence, mild gore, mild suggestive themes, and use of alcohol and tobacco.” You can see the full evaluation summary below.
Evaluation summary
This is a role-playing game where players take on the role of a treasure hunter on a quest to recover their lost memory. As players explore a fantasy world, they interact with characters, recruit party members, and engage human enemies and fantasy creatures (eg golems, giant skeletons, robot guards) in turn-based combat. Players can choose weapon strikes and magic spells from a menu; battles are highlighted by bursts of light and screen-shaking effects. One main creature has traces of blood on its mask and armor; the images on the screen show drops of blood on the ground and dripping from the character’s face. A handful of female characters are designed with suggestive features (eg, plunging necklines, slightly moving breasts). During the game, players may encounter drunken characters; the background image shows a character smoking a cigar.
