Before Nintendo Switch online, there was a virtual console. Available on WII, 3DS and WII U, the virtual console was effectively a Retro game line that can be purchased via Wii Shop Channel -A ESHOP.
Unlike Nintendo Switch Online, which offers a series of feature games for annual or monthly expenses, a virtual console allowed you to pay for Ad-Hoc games, allowing you to take over which title you wanted and retained it indefinitely. Although we certainly love what Nintendo has been doing over the years with Switch Online, it is no secret that a lot of fans would rather get back to the company to the virtual console model.
One such individual who seemingly lacks a virtual console is no one else but a hideki kamiya, a creator of Okami and Bayonetta, who expressed his desire to Nintendo 'restart' the service when asked about the upcoming switch 2 by by IGN.
Also present was the producer of Capcom Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who remained predictably Coy with respect to the Switch 2:
So, talking about new technologies, does any of you have opinions about Nintendo Switch 2?
Hirabayashi: It's something we really can't comment on with Capcom, because yes, it's Nintendo Switch 2. Everything that goes out behind Nintendo.
Kamiya: As a personal comment, I would personally like to see that the virtual console is restarted. I really would like to ask Nintendo.
Of course, it seems very unlikely that Nintendo will soon re -inspect the virtual console, but it would be nice if he offered a way to buy retro games individually with their NSO membership layers.
Sony allows users to subscribe to PlayStation+ or buy classic PS1 games separately on PS5, so if Sony can do it, when not nintendo ..? You know what, don't answer that.
