Japanese video game magazine, Famitsu, has released its estimated sales figures for physical game software and hardware for the two weeks between April 24 and May 7, 2023. The data revealed that The legacy of Hogwarts for PlayStation 4 was the best-selling new release, including Japan’s Golden Week, with 31,918 copies sold at retail. Right behind is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for PlayStation 5, which sold 16,742 retail units in its first two weeks of release.
In terms of hardware, the Nintendo Switch family led the way, selling 216,525 units over two weeks. The PlayStation 5 family is the second best-selling hardware with 99,938 units sold, followed by the PlayStation 4 family with 2,067 units sold. The Xbox Series family had the lowest sales figures with only 1,324 units sold. In terms of software sales, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch continues to hold its position as the best-selling game with 32,713 units sold over two weeks. The complete order is as follows:
