Japan: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD debuts at #1

It's that time of the week again when it's time to find out how video game hardware and physical gaming software fared in Japan. Famitsu has decided to release the latest video game and boxed hardware rankings. This time, it's for the week of January 13-19. As usual, both of these sales charts track lifetime sales.

This week has been a very successful one for Nintendo. Of the 10 games listed on the software sales chart, 7 of them are Switch games. One of those games is Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. This is the first weekly gaming chart published by Famitsu since the game was released, debuting at #1 on the chart. Meanwhile, the Switch OLED model was No. 1 on the hardware sales chart.
