Update: IGN revealed several new additions to the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones, Breaking Bad, Veronica Mars) leads the way here, with many fans suspecting that she’ll be playing the role of Rouge the Bat in the upcoming film. Alyla Browne (Three thousand years of longing, Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga) is also joining the cast, rumored to be playing Maria, Shadow’s human friend and cousin to Dr. Robotnik in Sonic Adventure 2 .
Other names include Sofija Pernas (Blood and treasure, Jane the Virgin), James Wolk (The crazy ones, Crazy people, The guards), Cristo Fernandez (Ted Lasso, Transformers: Rise of the Beast), and Jorma Taccone (A lonely island comedy trio, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse),
Their roles haven’t been confirmed, so aside from the speculation and rumors above, we don’t know who they’ll be playing, or if they’ll be voiced or on-screen. The big question still remains — who voices the Shadow? We’ll say it again – the Super Bowl seems like a good time to announce it.
You can read about the teaser and the return of Jim Carrey below…
Original article: Jim Carrey returns as Dr. Robotnik in the film Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, Diversity has discovered.
Today, on the 30th anniversary of Sega Mega Drive / Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Variety broke the news with the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account revealing a small teaser for the film.
The comedian announced back in 2022 that he was considering retirement, saying “I’ve had enough. I’ve done enough. I’m enough.” (over it Diversity) But in the same interview he said, “It depends. If the angels bring some kind of script written in gold ink that tells me it’s going to be really important for people to see it, I might go ahead.” . We assume Sonic 3 is that script in gold ink, then!
Carrey’s portrayal of Robotnik has been popular with game and movie fans alike, and we’re excited to see him continue to portray Sonic’s longtime nemesis.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 should also have a blue blur and the ultimate life form, Shadow the Hedgehog, who made his debut in Sonic Adventure 2. And if you have good ears, the teaser features a pretty great reworking of Sonic’s famous tune. Sing with us… Live and Leaaaarrrn~.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 got a trailer at the 2022 Super Bowl, and with this year’s big sporting event taking place on Sunday February 11th, we’re sure to get our first real look at the film very soon.
This year looks to be a pretty big year for Shadow as well. Earlier this week, Sega confirmed that Sonic Generations is returning in Sonic X Shadow Generations, which is due out in Fall 2024.
