Konami has reiterated its plans for the second Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, but admits it doesn’t want to rush development after “all the problems” it had with the first collection.
This update was shared during The ‘Q&A’ segment of the latest show ‘Hotline for the production of metal equipment’with series production producer Noriaki Okamura.
After reconfirming that a second volume is definitely happening, Okamura mentioned that the team is aware of the fact that the first volume had a “pretty rough launch” and so the goal is to avoid repeating the same mistake, meaning this second collection could take some time. :
“We’re also concerned that Vol. 1 had a pretty rough launch, with all the issues, so we’ll do everything we can to make sure it doesn’t happen again, but we just have to ask everyone to give us time.”
While the new collection won’t necessarily be talked about much going forward, the team still wants to “check in with everyone” on a regular basis — even if it’s a response like “we can’t answer that” or “we need more time.”
As for the games in this second collection, the team is apparently not yet sure what might be included:
“Looking at potential titles… Okay, here it is. We had HD ports for MGS1, 2, and 3. Or, sorry, not exactly 1, but the other two. But most of the titles released after those don’t have an existing HD port that we could use, but they would all be really big titles, and with all these factors to consider with setting the ‘what’s in it?’ Or questions like ‘how long will it be in development, when will it be out…’ It’ll be a while until we get a clear picture, but when we do, we’ll let you know.”
This latest update follows an alleged reveal on Konami’s official website in 2023, which reportedly revealed placeholder buttons for a number of Metal Gear titles, including Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walkerand Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
