Recently there have been rumors in the industry about Microsoft potentially bringing select games to competing platforms and last weekend it escalatedwith gaming media outlets and key figures claiming that Xbox could potentially go “all in” on a new multi-platform model.
Now it’s gotten to the point where Microsoft Games CEO Phil Spencer has come released a statement (via social networks)
Phil Spencer: “We’re listening and we hear you. We’ve planned a business event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details about our vision for the future of Xbox with you. Stay tuned.”
Lots of Xbox exclusives related to this rumor (Star field, Indiana Jones and even Gears of War) have so far focused on PlayStation, but there are rumors that selected games could also come to Nintendo’s platforms. One, in particular, is a Tango Gameworks title Hi-Fi RUSH.
Once again, Xbox hasn’t announced anything yet, and all we know right now is that there will be this “business update” next week. Note that there seem to be a lot of industry characters covering Xbox convinced that something big will happen.
Xbox has previously mentioned that it wants to make gaming accessible to the masses. He has also reiterated on many occasions that he will continue to support other platforms after the Activision Blizzard takeover. Early last year, it committed to a 10-year deal to bring Activision’s Call of Duty series to Nintendo’s platforms.
