In the past we knew that LEGO 2K Drive was going to be launched on May 19, 2023. Now we have news that is at least worrying.
LEGO 2K Drive
The game was officially announced after the latest rumors and the subsequent teaser. It had been confirmed that it will arrive on Nintendo Switch in physical (without cartridge) and digital formats on that date along with its additional content.
Now, after the release of their demo, it seems that Visual Concepts Austin, a Texas-based division of 2K Games and Take-Two, has confirmed new layoffs, according to reports. This studio, known for its work on the NBA 2K series and LEGO 2K Drive, had already experienced layoffs in September 2023. The recent layoffs were revealed through LinkedIn posts from affected employees, including art manager Brad Bowling, who mentioned that “the bloodshed in the games industry continues.”
Until now, Neither Take-Two nor 2K have confirmed the exact number of employees laid off in this latest round.. However, layoffs in the video game industry are unfortunately common and worrying.
Job instability and Lack of job security can have a negative impact on both the affected employees and the industry as a whole.. This case reflects the harsh reality that many game developers face, even at well-established studios. At iGamesNews, we hope that the industry finds ways to address these problems and offer a more stable and sustainable environment for its professionals.
