To say that the movie Super Mario Bros. was successful would be an understatement. Although it has been almost 2 months since the movie premiered in theaters, it is still breaking records and achieving milestones. In fact, this weekend reached another milestone.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the movie Super Mario Bros. grossed $1,248,000,000 worldwide. This has now surpassed The Incredibles to become the 3rd highest grossing animated film of all time. Frozen 1 and Frozen 2 are the only movies that Nintendo and Illumination’s movie can beat. The first one is very possible to surpass. It grossed $1,276,000,000 worldwide, so the Mario movie is relatively close. The latter is a different story, however, as it grossed $1,450,000,000 worldwide.
