Update no. 3 []:: We finally received a certain clarity and a statement of Nintendo about this – information about support for variable refreshment speed originally published on the Switch 2 website were “inaccurate” and the VR is only manual.
Here's a complete statement we received:
Nintendo Switch 2 only supports the VR in manual mode. Incorrect information was initially published on the Nintendo Switch 2 website, and we apologize for the error.
On the topic of potential VRR support for the connected way that comes in a future Firmware update, Nintendo does not deny the possibility:
We have nothing to announce about this topic.
So, there is no VRR on the TV with switch 2. This will come to some as a disappointment, but there is at least hope of that support could Add to the future, despite the token “nothing to announce”.
Update no. 2 []::
As Oliver Mackenzie once again pointed out Oliver Mackenzie, this text was also obviously removed from Nintendo's European websites.
Once again, we addressed Nintendo for clarification of all this and we will let you know if we hear anything back.
Update no. 1 []::
[Thu 17th Apr, 2025 06:15 BST]:: Just a few weeks after complete discovery of the Switch 2, Nintendo allegedly updated the description on its Official websites In the US, in Canadaand Japan (Over Nintendo everything).
As pointed out Digital foundryOliver Mackenzie on social networks, “VRR support for TV Play” is no longer mentioned. It is worth noting that other areas of the place in this region are still referring to VRR and Nintendo officially Tech Specs page It also states “VRR up to 120 Hz” for a built -in console screen.
Nintendo Switch 2 website in other regions Like Europe They still have “the system also supports HDR, VRR and staff speeds up to 120 fps on compatible TVs.”
