Update #2 [Fri 8th Dec, 2023 17:15 GMT]: Earlier this week, Nintendo announced that it was aware of a bug in Splatoon 3’s latest Big Run event that resulted in players being incorrectly rewarded for their efforts. A patch was released earlier today to address this issue, but the bug appears to persist.
In a new post from @nintendo_cs (over it @Zobena kašaDome), Nintendo confirmed that ver. 6.0.1 didn’t fix the bug, but the team is working on another patch to hopefully combat it in the future.
According to Nintendo’s message, it will take a while for this next update to arrive as the company wants to make sure it fixes the problem this time.
We’ll keep an eye out for any updates on when we can expect this patch. For now, just keep waiting for those Big Run rewards…
Update #1 [Mon 4th Dec, 2023 15:45 GMT]: The official North American Splatoon Twitter account also acknowledged the issue and issued a similar statement on the social media platform:
“Due to a bug in #Splatoon3, some players were unable to see last weekend’s Big Run results or receive a reward corresponding to their high score. We will release an update soon to fix this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Original article: This past weekend the final Big Run event came to Splatoon 3 as the Salmonid hordes took to the Barnicle & Dime stage from December 1-3. However, now that the event is over, it seems that some participants are affected by a bug that prevents them from claiming the correct rewards (thanks, @Zobena kašaDome).
The bug in question saw the Deep Cut trio skip the Big Run results dialog and continue with the news broadcast as usual. As a result, the trophies awarded appear to have resorted to the old percentage-based prize pool distribution system instead of the new fixed-level system. In short, if you performed well at a Big Run event, you may still miss out on your well-deserved trophies.
At least that’s how it is for now. Nintendo announced that it is aware of the bug and is working on an update to correct it for future events, while affected players will have the opportunity to replay the news announcement and receive the correct amount of trophies as a result.
Notification from @nintendo_cs (via @OatmealDome) was translated via Twitter’s built-in tool and can be found below:
There is an issue in Splatoon 3 where the results announcement news for the Big Run held from 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 2nd is not displayed and the reward corresponding to the high score is not received.
We will soon distribute updated data that will allow you to re-display results announcement news and receive rewards that originally correspond to your best results.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
While the post above doesn’t specify when this new update will hit us, it’s good to know that everyone affected will receive the appropriate reward in due course.
