Remember the amazing The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX PC port we reported on the other day? Well, unfortunately not anymore.
Nintendo issued a takedown notice for the fan-made port, which it has now been removed from its itch.io site (Thank you to CM30/Gaming Reinvented!). The HD version of the Game Boy Color version of Link’s Awakening was created by user ‘linksawakeningdxhd’ and added widescreen support, beautiful HD visuals and 120fps scrolling.
Now, when you go to the itcho.io page, the following message appears along with a link to Nintendo’s own message:
“This game’s files have been suspended due to copyright (or trademark) claims.”
Nintendo — known for protecting its IPs and taking down many fan projects in the past, including (famously) AM2R, the Metroid II remake — issued a takedown notice earlier today, signed ‘Nintendo Legal’.
